The Eastman U13, U15 & U17 Wildcats teams played on the Canada Day long weekend and all three teams will head to Minnesota this weekend to compete in the Mankato Peppers Classic Softball tournament.


The Eastman U17 AAA Wildcats recorded a pair of wins Sunday in Friedensfeld. Abby Dixon had four hits and Emma Franklin drove in five runs as Eastman defeated the Manitoba Angels 16-8. The Wildcats plated five runs in the top of the fourth inning and tacked on seven more runs in the seventh. Eastman downed Central Energy 11-1 in game two. Kelsey Warkentine’s grand slam home run was the highlight of the Wildcats five-run sixth inning. Eastman starting pitcher Emma Franklin allowed four hits and struck out seven over six innings of work. The first place Wildcats own a 12-4 record in the Manitoba Premier Softball League. Softball Manitoba’s Provincial U17 AAA championship will be held July 11th-14th in Friedensfeld.

The Eastman U15 AAA Wildcats played doubleheaders in Winnipeg on Saturday and Friedensfeld on Sunday. Morgan Nault drilled a grand slam home run in the Wildcats 12-run second inning as Eastman defeated Smitty’s Terminators 15-7. Eastman was shutout 7-0 by the Westman Magic in game two. Joelle Normandeau had a hit and two stolen bases for the Wildcats. Eastman bounced back from their Saturday loss to Westman and beat the Magic twice on Sunday. Eastman outscored Westman 8-6 in game one. The Wildcats scored two runs in the top of the eighth inning when Gracie Anderson doubled, Morgan Nault singled and Lola Kihn doubled. Eastman took the second game 5-4. Joelle Normandeau had three hits and Kaylie Tetrault drove in three runs for the Wildcats. Eastman will play its final league game Tuesday, July 9th against the Winnipeg Lightning in Friedensfeld. The Wildcats are in first place with a 14-2-1 record. Softball Manitoba’s Provincial U15 AAA championship will be held July 18th-21st in Winnipeg.


The Eastman U13 AAA Wildcats won three of four games on the Canada Day long weekend. The Wildcats split a doubleheader with the Interlake Phillies Saturday in Stonewall. Eastman won the opener 2-0 and lost the second game 8-0. Hannah Skrabek got the start and allowed no hits and struck out six over three innings. Jaycee Neumann threw the last three innings and gave up three hits and struck out two Phillies. The Wildcats played a twinbill against the Manitoba Angels Sunday in Winnipeg. Eastman won the opener 12-5 and then took the second game 9-2. Abby Mateychuk drove in three runs in game one. Sophie Franklin had an inside the park grand slam home run in game two. The Wildcats finished league play with a 12-6 record. Softball Manitoba’s Provincial U13 AAA championship will be held July 25th-28th in Stonewall.
