Janarian Grant took the opening kick off 97 yards for a major, Dalton Schoen caught a pair of touchdown passes and the Winnipeg defense forced four turnovers as the Blue Bombers defeated the B.C. Lions 42-22 Saturday night in Vancouver. The two-time defending Grey Cup champions racked up 492 yards of offense and improved to 5-0 on the season. Winnipeg will face the 4-0 Calgary Stampeders Friday at IG Field.


The Carillon Sultans and Interlake Blue Jays split a doubleheader Saturday at A.D. Penner Park in Steinbach. Burke Heide scored three runs and Luc Lagasse had two hits and two rbi as Carillon won the opener 9-8. The Blue Jays plated six runs in the top of the first inning and took the second game 11-9. The Sultans, who committed five errors, tied the game at 7-7 thanks to a six run fourth, but gave four runs back in the top of the fifth. Carillon first baseman Zach Giesbrecht singled, doubled and tripled in game two.


Baseball Manitoba's Provincial 11U, 13U & 15U A championships wrap up today in Stonewall, Winkler and Swan River.


The Winnipeg Goldeyes dropped an 11-4 decision to the Sioux City Explorers at Shaw Park. Ian Sagdal had three of the Goldeyes eight hits and extended his hitting streak to nine games. Shane Podsednik had a pair of home runs for the Explorers.
