The Winnipeg Blue Bombers will hold their final practice session today at Tim Hortons Field. The Bombers face the Montreal Alouettes Sunday in the 110th Grey Cup in Hamilton.


Steinbach Regional lost to College Jeanne-Sauve in the South Central Athletic Conference AAAA varsity girls volleyball final. The Olympiens swept the Sabres 25-15, 25-22, 25-9. The SRSS will find out Monday if they’ll receive a wildcard spot for the Provincial Championship.


The A & AA high school varsity volleyball provincial qualifiers take place today. Pointe des Chenes is at the A girls qualifier in Deloraine and the A boys qualifier in Elm Creek. Green Valley is at the AA girls qualifier in Birtle. Landmark and Gabrielle Roy are at the AA girls qualifier in Ile des Chenes. Ecole St. Joachim is at the AA girls qualifier in Elton. Landmark is hosting a AA boys qualifier.


The Steinbach Pistons winning streak has reached seven games. Grady Hoffman scored twice as the defending Manitoba Junior Hockey League champions downed the Swan Valley Stampeders 4-1 in Swan River. David Cote and Kirk Mullen also scored for the Pistons. Cole Plowman made 25 saves.


The Landmark Blues and Red River Mudbugs were winners in the Hanover Tache Junior Hockey League Friday night. Derek Plett scored twice and Dylan Peters had three assists as the Blues defeated Niverville 6-3. Jackson Reimer had a goal and two helpers for the Clippers. Andrew Dyck and Bryson Loewen each had two goals and two assists as the Mudbugs beat Macdonald 5-3.


Rylan Keck scored his second goal of the game in overtime to lift the St. Malo Warriors past the North Wpg Satelites 3-2. Clint Thomas had a hat trick in the Beausejour Comets 5-4 loss to the Arborg Ice Dawgs.


The Eastman Selects gave up four goals in the first period and six in the second and lost 11-1 to the Winnipeg Bruins. Ashton Cure had the lone goal for the Selects.


The Warren Mercs downed the Altona Maroons 8-1. The South Eastern Manitoba Hockey League leading Mercs improved to 5-0 while the Maroons fell to 0-5.


The Brandon Wheat Kings defeated the Edmonton Oil Kings 5-2 at Westoba Place. Jayden Wiens, Luke Shipley, Nate Danielson, Brett Hyland and Dominik Petr did the goal scoring for the Wheat Kings who lead 5-0 early in the third period.


Cole Perfetti extended his goal streak to five games and Connor Hellebuyck made 26 saves as the Winnipeg Jets edged the Buffalo Sabres 3-2 at Canada Life Centre. Mason Appleton and Nikolaj Ehlers also scored for the Jets who wrap up their five-game homestand tonight against the Arizona Coyotes.


Thomas Milic made 26 saves as the Manitoba Moose shaded the Belleville Senators 3-2 and snapped their five-game losing skid. Nikita Chibrikov, C.J. Suess and Wyatt Bongiovanni did the goal scoring for the Moose.
