A company from southeastern Manitoba is hoping to make it onto Dragon's Den. Landon Kroeker of Von Slick's Finishing Butter says they are auditioning today with hopes of landing on the show.

Kroeker explains they will be appearing in front of a panel of five producers today. The owners will make their pitch and it will be up to the producers to determine whether the Middlebro business will get a chance to present their product to the dragons.

"It's pretty nerve-racking," admits Kroeker. "We only got the message on Monday that we would be shooting."

Kroeker says that gave them only a few days to make sure they had all their ducks in a row, with hopes that their product and numbers will be interesting enough for the investors.

Kroeker explains the way it will work is they will get a chance to explain their business to the producers, letting them know what it is they are looking for from the dragons. After that, they will get the opportunity to showcase their product. He notes unfortunately today's pitch will be done virtually, which is a little unfortunate for any entrepreneur trying to sell a food product.

"Our product is based on taste but I think every company is feeling like that right now," he says.

Kroeker says they will present the product to the producers, showing them how to use it and explaining who their target market is.

Once today's pitch is over, Kroeker notes they play the waiting game. He says the producers will eventually let them know if they are a good fit. Kroeker says it sounds like shooting starts in May and so sometime between now and May they should find out whether or not they will be making an appearance on the show.

"To be selected to be put in front of the panel is an honour," says Kroeker. "It really helps us validate that the product is moving in the right way and people really see a lot of uniqueness and a lot of potential in it."
