Residents in the Village of La Broquerie can expect an extra charge for sewer services this year.

Reeve Claude Lussier says council discovered that it had neglected to collect money since 2009 for reserve funds to upgrade the system. He adds, "If we want to be able to put reserves away to be able to take care of the revamping of the sewer system, we've got to set up a reserve. The extra billing that will be given to each of the residents of the community is approximately $170.00."

Lussier notes this charge was suggested by the Public Utilities Board.  "It's just for the residents of the village itself in what they call the LUD which is the local urban district, and it has no impact monetarily, tax wise or otherwise with the rural residents in the RM.

He adds if the municipality does not set aside reserve funds, residents would be stuck with a huge bill in the future.
