The Winnipeg Jets had their three game winning streak snapped Tuesday night when the visiting Philadelphia Flyers won 5-4 in overtime at MTS Centre.

Nine seconds, that's all that stood in the way of the Jets winning their fourth straight game and going undefeated against the Philadelphia Flyers this season.

While the crowd was standing expecting to see another home win, James Van Riemsdyk silenced the faithful sending a pass through traffic off the left wing to a streaking Wayne Simmonds in the slot who tipped in his 22nd of the season.

“We lost coverage, it was a simple play for me. It was a play that we could have been defended better and wasn't,” responded Winnipeg Jets head coach Claude Noel after the game.

Flyers superstar Jaromir Jagr then snapped in the overtime game winner his 16th of the season at 4:16 of the extra period. Good thing for the Flyers because they are only 1-5 in shootouts this season compared to the Jets who are 4-3 in the skills competition.

Even though the Jets walked off losers, the coach was positive about his team's performance.

“The resiliency was good. We scored three power play goals, so I'm going to take some good things out of it. We got seven out of eight points lets deal with that, that's the way I'm dealing with it.”

The Jets went three for three on the power play. The Flyers are the only team have had three power play goals in a game was their 6-4 win over the Flyers. The Jets are now five for their last five on the man advantage.

Noel was overjoyed again for the second straight night on the play of his goaltender. “Ondrej Pavelec was unbelievable, with goaltending like that you can win championships.”

The Jets netminder came up with arguably the save of the year when he reached back across the crease to deny Flyers Jakub Voracek's backhand attempt, which preserved a 4-3 lead with under half a period left to play.

“He was excellent, he gave us a chance to win. I feel bad for him because obviously we spoiled a great performance on his part,” said team captain Andrew Ladd.

Pavelec standing ovations were a regular sight Tuesday night, including a new never heard before chant of "PAV–EE – PAV–EE" that rang throughout the the MTS Centre.

Noel emphasized that the team can't sulk for long. “It's another day tomorrow, we have another game coming up on Thursday. We have to pick up our boot straps and play. We got to play. There is just to much on the line for us.”

The Jets play the Tampa Bay Lightning this Thursday. The Lightning are playing their best hockey of late going 10-3 in their past thirteen games.

Winnipeg is currently tied for the lead in the Southeast Division with the Florida Panthers at 65 points and are tied with the Toronto Maple Leafs for the final playoff spot in the Eastern conference.
