The East Borderland Community Housing Corporation has now reached the $250,000 mark in fundraising for a seniors housing facility.  The group would like to build a site that will have 15 elderly persons housing units and 20 personal care home/ supportive housing beds.  Chair Elsa Laing says they'd like to put up the facility three years from now in the southeast corner of the RM of Piney.  But in order for that to happen they will be responsible for raising $2.2 Million.  Laing says fundraising has gone well this year.  Their 2-2-2 campaign has brought in $50,000.  Through the campaign people are invited to donate a toonie or more towards construction.  Laing says her group is now going to take a bit of a break before it kicks fundraising into high gear in September.  She notes they would still love to receive government help and are also looking to partner with some foundations.
