With their motto – any door, any size, anywhere – the team at Hanover Doors have seen it all when it comes to garage doors and door systems.

“We supply, install, and service residential garage door packages,” says Anders Toews, Sales Manager. “We also offer commercial services, commercial maintenance, and of course, complete packages for garage doors.”

Hanover residents have likely seen one of Hanover Doors’ many commercial projects – the Blumenort Fire Hall.

“We call that a commercial or government space. They wanted clear doors. We provided polycarbonate product and some glass inserts, so you can see those beautiful red, shined-up fire trucks,” Toews says.

Hanover Doors has a wide selection of commercial and residential doors in a variety of colours, sizes, and styles.

“If you want something that's not the standard basic white steel door, we have hundreds of options for colours, designs, full view glass, wood look, and real wood,” says Toews.

And if you’re thinking of selling your home, Toews says you should consider a garage door that is not only high quality but looks great too.

“You really want to have the curb appeal of your house jump out when you're going to be reselling it. And a garage door has one of the greatest ROIs besides the kitchen in a house,” says Toews. “You can change the look of your house by just changing your garage door. So, when it comes time to sell, a garage door is a great investment. And the possibilities are endless when it comes to the design, colours, glazing, glass – you name it.”

Toews says now is the perfect time to get that new garage door since they’re having a big sale from Tuesday, May 21st to Saturday, May 25th.

Hanover Doors will have regular business hours from Tuesday to Friday, and on Saturday, May 25th, they are open 8 a.m. to noon for a fun sales event; they’re not usually open on Saturdays.

“At the event, we’ll have coffee and doughnuts available for the public. You can come in and enter a free draw for a garage door operator. And of course, we're going to have over 50 in-stock garage doors on sale – up to 20, 50 and 70 percent off.”

Even if you’re not in the market to replace your garage door, Toews stresses the importance of regular maintenance. He says the average lifespan of a garage door is approximately 20 years with proper maintenance.

“Maintenance of a garage door means lubricating the moving parts – the hinges, the rollers, the springs,” says Toews. “You also want to check the tension on those springs every year, to make sure the door is properly balanced. And then we recommend a visual inspection of the parts; these are the cables, rollers, hinges that are starting to wear and tear. Then you want to replace those damaged parts.”

Another important part of maintenance is lubrication. “It works wonders. There's a lot of moving steel-on-steel parts on the garage door and lubing them can add years of life to your system.”
