Steinbach RCMP officers worked with Manitoba Conservation and Climate Change to conduct a check stop for off-road vehicles in Marchand last weekend.

According to police, “This was a joint operation at the request of Manitoba Conservation where they requested assistance from RCMP. Four Eastman Traffic Services officers did attend along with four Manitoba Conservation Officers and two Park Patrol Officers.”

The check stop began at 11 AM and wrapped up at 4 PM this past Saturday, June 22nd.

Manitoba Conservation says the goal of this check stop was to ensure public safety on the trail system in the Marchand area.

76 ORVs were stopped, and the following charges were issued:

  • four tickets for operating an unregistered ORV;
  • four tickets for operating an ORV on a road;
  • two tickets for having no licence plate; and
  • one ticket for driving while suspended.

As we head into Canada Day long weekend, the Conservation Officer Service reminds Manitobans to be responsible on the province’s trail network so everyone can enjoy a safer riding experience.
