A man from Blumenort, charged with sexually assaulting four women, has been found not guilty.

In October of 2022, a woman attended the Steinbach RCMP detachment and reported that she was the victim of a sexual assault during a massage, by a man, who she believed to be a registered massage therapist.

The woman told police that the man, who is not actually a registered massage therapist, was providing services out of a basement in Blumenort. She said that during the appointment she was touched in an unwanted sexual way.

Steinbach RCMP say Bernhard Unger, who was 51 years old at the time, was charged with sexual assault and was remanded into custody.

However, Steinbach RCMP noted that they believed there could be additional victims and urged anyone with information to contact the detachment.

According to an RCMP spokesperson, more victims came forward. The offences allegedly happened between January 2015 and September 2022.

A judge has now found Unger not guilty on four counts. There was a stay of proceedings on a fifth count.
