A rainfall warning remains in effect for a large portion of southern Manitoba, including Steinbach, as a low-pressure system tracks north from the Dakotas.

Environment Canada says by the time this system leaves the region, between 50 and 60 millimetres (mm) of rain may have fallen. As of Friday, at 3 pm, there are areas of the province that are already within that range.

Environment Canada says most of the rain with this system will fall on Friday. It is expected that the heaviest of the rain fell Friday morning.

The rain will gradually taper off Friday night before ending around midday on Saturday. Northerly wind gusts up to 60 kilometres per hour will accompany the rain on Friday and Saturday.

According to Manitoba Agriculture, areas receiving the highest totals of rain so far include Snowflake with 54.5 mm, Jordan with 54.2 mm, Winkler with 53.8 mm, Somerset with 53.4 mm, Manitou with 52.0 mm and Holland with 50.6 mm.
