Charges of arson have now been laid in relation to the fire at the Rennie Hotel in December.

On December 8th at approximately 3:50 am, officers from the Whitemouth and Lac du Bonnet RCMP detachments responded to a structure fire at the Rennie Hotel. Police say there were no injuries.

The hotel was destroyed in the fire and the Office of the Fire Commissioner determined that the cause of the fire was arson.

This last Saturday, RCMP arrested 64-year-old Pelle Lambiase of Rennie. He has been charged with one count of arson. Lambiase was released and is scheduled to appear in court on May 1st in Beausejour.

According to the Reeve for the Rural Municipality of Reynolds, the Rennie Hotel had been closed for a couple of months prior to the fire.
