The Manitoba Motor Dealers Association is cracking down on people selling vehicles illegally. Don Neufeld of Steinbach says with the help of the Used Car Dealers Association and Motor Vehicle Branch they have just recently nabbed 12 individuals. MMDA will not specify where these individuals come from. Some of the more common infractions include failure to note the dealer permit number and odometer reading on the sale contract and failure to keep a copy of the inspection certificate. The findings come through a new dealer licensing program. Neufeld says first time offenders could be charged up to $5,000.
