Niverville is trying to find ways to get its new councillors up to speed on the issues as quickly as possible.

One of the things it's doing is organizing council responsibilities in an entirely different way.  On Tuesday night council announced the creation of 2 main committees.  One will deal with facilities and public works and the other with recreation and programming and one senior member of council and one newcomer have been appointed to each committee.  John Funk and David Braun will look after facilities and Kevin Stott and Helen Sparrow are in recreation and programming.  Mayor Greg Fehr hopes by matching senior councillors with newcomers there can be some mentoring taking place which will help the new councillors get a handle on the issues much quicker.  Plus having overlap on the committees ensures there will never be a hole if someone steps down.
