A new play structure is currently being built at Thurston Drive Park in La Coulee.

Reeve for the R.M. of Ste. Anne Richard Pelletier says they are glad to add a play structure to this park, as the development is filled with mostly young families with kids.

“There's a volleyball net, there's a cage, there's a walking path and so on. It's been very used, but we didn't have anything for the younger kids, so we got the structure for the young kids.”

He says it’s always good to expand recreation in the municipality.

“It's really good to see people get together, and it's a common ground where they get together and have fun.”

Pelletier says council and management for the R.M. of Ste. Anne hope to keep adding activities and trails over the next few years to keep people busy and active.

It’s important to them that they have green spaces for kids and adults alike to get together and get some fresh air.

“We are going to focus on doing more, no doubt about that.”

He notes this will be the last play structure for 2023, and for their 2024 budget, they are hoping to expand their recreation opportunities more.

“Every time we do one development for young families that is big enough, we always keep a green space. Hopefully we have other places that we feel that there is a need. Every year we want to invest in young families and activities, so definitely we'll have something.”
