A new law taking effect tomorrow will ensure that anyone who signs a cell phone contract will understand all the charges, fees and conditions to the terms.  Chelsea Ross, manager for Corporate Communications at MTS,  says they fully support the new legislation.

"MTS fully supports the new consumer protection legislation and we are making any changes necessary to make sure we comply.  Even before the new legislation came into effect our wireless business was in compliance with many of the new regulations."

Ross mentions the good thing about the new legislation is it will level the playing field in the competitive market.  She explains a couple of the upcoming changes that customers will notice.

"We are making some changes to our wireless contracts which will give customers a clearer description of their minimum monthly costs and included services.  We're also changing how we calculate termination fees.  So those are the two major changes that are coming as part of the new legislation."

Ross explains all the changes will make it much more fair for the customer when purchasing a new contract.
