New candidate Konrad Narth elected MLA for La Verendrye

Konrad Narth has been elected as MLA for La Verendrye and is going into his first term as an MLA.

The PC candidate for La Verendrye was elected last night with 4,831 votes. 

This was a huge lead as the runner-up was Bianca Siem of NDP at 1,596 votes. Matthew Wiebe of Keystone had 779 votes, and Monica Guetre of Liberal had 646 votes.

Narth was happy to see all the support that came through.

“Me as a new candidate, obviously very thankful for the people that brought me here today. It's been a year-long journey from the nomination to where we are now as me being a new MLA.” 

Though Narth won, the Progressive Conservative Party of Manitoba did not.

He says jumping into the official opposition will be a new challenge that he looks forward to. 

“We clearly need to rebuild our party. As I've been watching the results come in as everyone else across Manitoba, we see that our leader is stepping aside, so right now we knew that there was rebuilding that needed to be done.” 

Narth says unifying the Progressive Conservative support is something that he faced throughout this election. 

“I took it head on knowing that we need to unify everyone together in the province. Unfortunately, that didn't happen, but I think a breath of fresh air is going to lead us ahead through the next four years.” 

He is looking forward to representing his riding. 

“Definitely thankful for the strong overwhelming support in La Verendrye, thankful for the people that brought me here today, and I look forward to being a strong voice for La Verendrye,” he says. “I'm passionate about this being a public serving position and definitely looking forward to connecting with each and every one of the members of our constituency in order to unify our Conservative support here and bring that forward to the Manitoba Legislature.”
