Crews are expected to begin work shortly on the bridge along Loewen Boulevard, east of Old Tom Road.

Some of the boards became loose and the city has notified the province.

Steinbach RCMP were also notified, and they set up pylons to alert motorists that the bridge is damaged.

Monday morning, RCMP returned to the bridge because the pylons had been moved and traffic was flowing at normal speed.

Randy Reimer, head of the public works department for Steinbach, says motorists need to slow down.

He anticipates repairs could begin as early as today.

Meanwhile, RCMP are asking the public not to move the pylons.
