As the high temps continue throughout the Southeast, Steinbach has a number of splash pad options that are ready to help cool down families.

Steinbach Recreation Director Russ Dyck details how much the splash parks are used during heat waves. "Usually when it's this warm, the place is hopping with kids and parents. We won't have an exact number but it's a pretty busy place when it's warm and windy. Kids love cooling down by running through some water."

For people who haven't been to the splash park yet, Dyck shares the hours of operation plus some advice to help keep the park clean. "Our hours downtown are 10:00 am to 8:00 pm daily. We do have a reminder for the parents to please watch for their kids, there is a playground next to the splash park and kids like having fun from the playground then bring gravel in. It's great to have the playground but the gravel is not great for the splash park."

Dyck encourages families to use the splash park, especially during these hot days. "It's going to be a beautiful weekend. Families look forward to getting out and cooling down. Everyone should have lots of fun"

Splash Pads around the area include:

  • Steinbach in EA Friesen Park beside Jake Epp Public Library
  • Steinbach in AD Penner Park at Aquatic Centre (Opening June 10th)
  • Blumenort in Abe G. Penner Park
  • La Broquerie by Tetrault Park
  • Niverville in Hespeler Park
  • Ste Anne in Redemptorist Park
  • St. Pierre by St. Pierre Recreation Centre
  • Lorette by the Lorette Community Complex

One note from Blumenort Recreation Association - "Due to some unexpected maintenance this year the splash park will be opening a little later than usual. We hope to have the area serviced and ready to go by June 2. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we do our best to get it up and running."
