A woman from Mitchell is dead, following a crash east of that community Thursday evening.
At approximately 11:15 pm, Steinbach RCMP officers responded to a report of a two vehicle collision at the intersection of Highway 52 and Road 32E or Bristol Road. This is about two kilometres west of Steinbach.
The investigation has determined that a southbound vehicle entered the intersection and was struck by a westbound vehicle.
Hanover Fire Chief Paul Wiebe says there was a total of three occupants involved in the crash. All three required extrication.
The driver of the southbound vehicle, a 37-year-old female from Mitchell, was pronounced dead on scene. A 37-year-old male passenger in the westbound vehicle was transported to Health Sciences Centre by STARS air ambulance, with serious injuries.
Wiebe says the eastbound lanes were closed for several hours. The scene was cleared at around 3 am.
RCMP along with Forensic Collision Reconstructionists continue to investigate.
