Motorists driving in the southwest corner of the city will need to find a new route as construction crews have now closed McKenzie Avenue to traffic.

In an August 10 article on SteinbachOnline, City of Steinbach Engineer Aaron Rach said McKenzie Avenue from Windsor Gate to Bushfarm Road would be closed this week.

“The existing gravel road is being reconstructed as an asphalt and concrete road in support of the Lexington Village development that is being constructed right now. That is beginning on Tuesday of next week and construction of that is expected to go until mid to late September.”

When that work is complete, McKenzie Avenue will be paved all the way to Bushfarm Road.

Residents of southwest Steinbach can also expect intermittent road closures while a private company, hired by Manitoba Hydro installs gas pipelines, that will be crossing intersecting roads with McKenzie Ave at Giesbrecht, Grandview and Parkhill.
