Former Steinbach Panther and Eastman Flame, Belle Paisley, has earned a spot on Team Canada’s Junior Team.

She will be heading to Finland at the end of October to play in the World Ringette Championship.

Paisley says the next five months will involve intense training.

“We have a training program that we have to follow,” she explains. “Every single day there’s a new workout. We have to send it into our coaches, we have to hold ourselves accountable.”

Paisley has been playing ringette for the past 15 years and says the sport and the ringette community have such a positive impact on her life.

"Ringette is such a fun sport for young girls. It's a great way to meet new friends,” she says. “I have met so many of my best friends through the sport.”

The high level of competition is also something Paisley appreciates.

“And the ringette community is just so awesome and supportive,” she adds. “I just think every young girl should get to experience that.”

This past season, Paisley played with the Manitoba Herd in the National Ringette League.

She looks forward to her first trip overseas and is excited to have her parents and grandparents planning to join her in Finland this fall.

The World Ringette Championships are scheduled for Oct. 31- Nov. 6, 2022.
