Whether you’re there for the action, are the one getting thrown, or just want to get out and enjoy the evening with your neighbors… Hanover Ag’s Spring Twist Off welcomes you. Sponsorship and Marketing Coordinator Brenda Levesque is looking forward to the event with great anticipation.

“The Spring Twist Off is a Bull Riders Canada-sanctioned bull riding event,” Levesque shares. “We do it in partnership with Crossfire Bull Riding, who put on a great show. We’ll have barrel racing as well. It’s a fully produced high caliber bull riding event… and it’s in Grunthal, so it’s nice and close!”

Production features include a large video screen, instant replay, play-by-plays, photographers, and chute cams, all to completely capture bull riders from both near and far.

“It’s really everything you’d expect at any large venue, but it’s right in the backyard for everyone in the southeast,” Levesque sums up.

The evening will include a couple of rounds of bull riding, the Calcutta where attendants can bet on their favorite riders, and a 10-rider barrel racing showdown. Levesque hopes that this will add an extra element of excitement, all while showcasing local barrel racing talent. The barrel racing contingent is strong in the southeast, and Levesque is pleased to give them this level of exposure.

“It’s great to give them a place where there’s a full captive audience to really show what they can do, because those riders are pretty amazing.”

Beyond the arena, the Grunthal Lumber Grill canteen will be serving up fan favorites throughout the evening. There will also be beer gardens and plenty of crowd engagement from Crossfire’s event hosts.

The Hanover Agricultural Society is known for making their events fun for all ages, and the Spring Twist Off is no exception. Young families are invited to sit in the family-friendly area- an alcohol-free section of the bleachers with extra space for kids to play in.

Why host events like this?

“Because it’s great to have events like this in our area. It’s a little local pride, right?” Levesque continues. “We like to celebrate rural living, agriculture, country living, that type of thing. It also keeps the sport growing, and we’ll do anything we can to keep those types of events alive. For example, we just had our Rough Stock School, with our biggest turnout yet. We respect the importance of providing a venue for it- for people to both watch and participate in it.”

The Hanover Agricultural Society is always looking for volunteers, and the Spring Twist Off is no exception. Volunteer slots include Sanitation, Merchandise, Arena, Admissions, and Concessions.  Levesque invites those interested to follow the links on the Hanover Ag website, where you can pick your field as well as the most convenient timeslot for your schedule.
