The Steinbach Parks and Recreation Department has been hard at work over the last few weeks, decorating the city for the Christmas season. Hundreds of strings of lights have been hung on the trees up and down Main Street and they were turned on for the first time Tuesday evening.

In addition, the towering evergreen trees across Reimer Avenue from Steinbach City Hall have been lit up to match.

Meanwhile, as part of the Bethesda Foundation’s Gifts of Lights Campaign, the little red Christmas trees have been hung on street lights along Main Street, Highway 12 North, and Brandt Street.

The Bethesda Foundation has also begun decorating at the hospital. Crews could be seen setting up many Christmas trees on Tuesday at the healing garden to compliment the evergreens that already grow there.

Not only are all of these trees sponsored by local donors in an effort to raise funds for healthcare projects, the campaign is also designed to bring Christmas cheer to patients and staff at the Bethesda Regional Health Centre during the darkest time of year.

The grounds will be lit up for the first time on Sunday, December 4th. The entire community is invited to take part in the tree-lighting ceremony which will include free hot chocolate, wagon rides, carolling and, of course, the tree-lighting.
