Association For Community Living in Steinbach has much to be proud of today.
It is celebrating its 50th anniversary.  Back in 1956  when the Association started, the only options for families were to send their child to an institution for the rest of their life or have them stay at home but not get any help.  Now there are a wide range of supports in place for families and people with mental disabilities.  And Executive Director Ed Barkman is proud of the fact that ACL Steinbach was part of a revolution to keep people with mental disabilities in their communities.  In the coming years he sees those supports continuing to grow and evolve, especially when it comes to housing and day programs.  As part of its 50th celebrations ACL Steinbach will be holding an open house at all its locations on Wednesday and hosting a fundraising banquet on Friday.
