Residents of southeastern Manitoba started and ended the day with rain this Canada Day Monday.

Though the morning rain did clear up early in the afternoon, a large thunderstorm rolled through Monday evening right around the time that fireworks would have been shot off. Fortunately, they had been postponed earlier in the day.

According to Manitoba Ag weather, most parts of the Southeast received over an inch (25.4 mm) of rain in total. Dominion City has received the most precipitation since Monday morning with a total of 44 mm, and it seems the further north you went, the less rain fell as Stead only got 5.9mm.

Here are some of yesterday's rainfall amounts from around the region:

  • Beausejour - 21.6 mm
  • Dominion City - 44.0 mm
  • Gardenton - 36.9 mm
  • Lac du Bonnet - 20.3 mm
  • Marchand - 29.8 mm
  • Richer - 30.2 mm
  • Stead - 13.0 mm
  • St. Adolphe - 31.5 mm
  • St. Pierre - 32.4 mm
  • Steinbach - 30.1 mm

Looking ahead, Environment Canada is calling for a mainly cloudy sky this Tuesday with a good chance of rain and a risk of another thunderstorm. Head to the SteinbachOnline weather page for more details.
