The local urban district committee of Grunthal has decided against extending the community sidewalk this year. Chair Ed Guenther says the committee has decided street work is more important. So, once the snow melts crews will tackle phase 2 of Wiens Road, surface Spruce Street and resurface Oak Avenue. Guenther says it will cost approximately $135,000 to complete the work but he expects it can be done without raising the mill rate. As for the sidewalk, it will have to wait until next year. Guenther says the committee had considered spending $23,000 this year extending it. He now anticipates it could be two years before the entire project is wrapped up.
