The occasional pumping would relieve pressure during construction. Construction on the floodway near the Trans-Canada bridge east could cause problems for residents in the area using groundwater wells.  The Manitoba Floodway Authority is pumping water out to relieve pressure while work is being completed.  Spoksperson Ronuk Modha tells us this same situation happened last November and no problems were reported.  Those residents using wells within a 2 km radius of the Trans-Canada highway bridge East, could be effected.  A public meeting has been set for the first week in September to discuss construction on the floodway and potential side effects.  Letters have also been sent to those who could experience problems.
