The maple harvest is upon us and the head of the St. Pierre Museum says it looks like it'll be an excellent season.

Rolly Gagne says the slow and steady melt has been perfect.

“The cold and warm, cold and warm cycle is exactly what we need in regards to getting a top harvest this year.”

Gagne says the majority of the tree tapping was done this past weekend.

“We did some test tapping about two weekends ago and we decided to wait because the snowbanks were too high and second of all, we still have time. By monitoring the weather and taking a look at the long-term forecast, we figure it might be an extended season.”
