The drive home Friday afternoon will be a challenge for many motorists as road conditions are getting worse.

While some events are still on for tonight, some hockey games have been postponed

In the Hanover Tache Junior Hockey League, the Steinbach Huskies will have to wait a bit longer for game 2 against Red River as that game won’t happen tonight. It is rescheduled to Saturday evening, March 18th, 8pm

In the Southeastern Manitoba Hockey League, Morden at Ste. Anne has been postponed. They will try to fit this game in on Sunday, March 19th, 7pm.

As of 2:45pm Friday afternoon, Highway 75 is closed all the way from the US border to Winnipeg and Highway 14 is closed from Highway 75 to Plum Coulee.

A Blowing Snow Advisory was issued this morning and remains in effect as fresh snow and the strong north wind is causing reduced visibility.

Environment and Climate Change Canada advises that visibility may be significantly and suddenly reduced to near zero, and suggests we consider postponing non-essential travel until conditions improve.

There might be some improvement on Saturday morning with the wind becoming light, but then getting stronger for the afternoon.

Manitoba Highways reports partly ice-covered sections on roads throughout the Southeast.
