A Steinbach resident saw a bear early Monday morning roaming around her property on Crocus Bay in Steinbach.

Kandice Signorino says she saw the bear thanks to her doorbell camera.

“We had a bear, Paddington, Winnie the Pooh, whichever one you want to call it, but we had a bear hanging out on our property here.”

She had woken up around 2 am, clicked her camera app on her phone, and saw she had a visitor.

“I was like ‘that doesn't quite look like a dog...’ and I clicked on it, and sure enough, there was a bear. It strolled casually across our driveway and up our front yard, and it spent some time in our backyard and then it left,” she says. “There's a lot of small children in our area walking to school every single day, so it is a little bit concerning.”

Signorino notes the bear didn’t do any damage.

“We don't have bird feeders out, our garbage stays tucked in our garage and I had notified our neighbors right aways, too, and they don't have anything either. So luckily, I didn't find anything that it will hopefully want to come back to later.”
