A portion of Loewen Boulevard will once again be fully closed to traffic this week.

The eastbound lane of Loewen Boulevard has been closed since the beginning of April as crews do extensive work at the lift station across from the former Steinbach Family Medical building.

Then, last Friday, the westbound lane was also closed between Hospital Street and Henry. According to City of Steinbach Engineer Aaron Rach, this was to accommodate the transportation of a pipeline from the north side of the street to the south.

Now, as a result of ongoing work at the lift station, the city has announced that the both the westbound and eastbound lanes of Loewen Boulevard will be closed between Henry Street and Albert Street. This additional closure will be in effect from noon this Tuesday until the end of the day on Wednesday.

Westbound traffic will be directed to use detour routes through Henry Street to Main Street for Southbound traffic and Heritage Parkway to access PTH 12 for Northbound traffic. These routes are indicated in orange on the map below.

Following this latest closure, the eastbound lane will remain closed on Loewen for the immediate future.

Street parking will remain unavailable and the walkway crossing Loewen Boulevard at Henry Street will remain open as work continues in the area.

The City thanks motorists and pedestrians in advance for following all posted signage, exercising caution, and reducing speed in the area.
