Conceptual drawing of a multiplex released in the spring of 2015The long talked about idea for a multiplex sports and entertainment complex in Steinbach died. After five-and-a-half years of discussion, City councillor Susan Penner made a motion at City Council to scrap the concept saying the City could simply not afford a $70-million to $100-million facility. Council voted 5-2 to support the motion. Mayor Chris Goertzen and Deputy Mayor John Fehr did not support the motion and expressed disappointment that the proposal was being dropped just before all of the information was in on which to base a decision.
