The Steve's Livestock Mooovers get ready to ride

The Big Bike fundraiser for the Heart and Stroke Foundation rolled through Steinbach on Tuesday.

With over 150 feet of bicycle chain and weighing nearly 2000 pounds the giant red bike took up as much space as a school bus on highway 12 Tuesday afternoon. Making five trips down the strip from Clearspring Mall to the Loewen intersection, the Big Bike hosts a team of 29 riders working together to drive the bike.

Dana Moroz from the Heart and Stroke Foundation says "Steinbach has always been a great supporter of the annual event". Each year the foundation drives the bike across the country with hopes of reaching their fundraising goal. This year they hope to raise $250,000. Steinbach participants managed to raise over $7000 after the first two runs.

Teams are encouraged to be creative with costumes and team names. Some of the Steinbach team names were The Superstore Superstars, Loewen Lightning, Steves Livestock Moovers and The Funancials. Moroz notes that everyone who came out did a great job in helping the Heart and Stroke Foundation reach their goal.
