The Steinbach Fire Department was called to two separate incidents within a span of 15 minutes this morning.

At 8:46 am firefighters were called to a stove-top fire in a residence on Brentwood Drive. Assistant Deputy Fire Chief Mike Penner says the fire was out by the time firefighters arrived and the damage was minimal. He notes the homeowner moved the pot off of the stove causing a burn mark on the counter top and dropped a pan causing a small burn mark on the ground.

Penner notes if you have a pot or pan that catches fire, don't remove it from the stove because you risk the chance of burning yourself. He recommends throwing baking soda on the fire.

Meanwhile, around 9 AM a truck hooked onto lines behind Derksen Printers. The fire department attended to make sure the downed lines weren't a danger to anyone and left a short time later.
