The Village of St. Pierre will be testing their emergency siren at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Blair Fallis is the Emergency Coordinator for the Village of St. Pierre. He says the siren was used many years ago and has now been taken out of storage and refurbished. He notes residents should be able to hear the siren inside their homes.

Fallis says the village will only use the siren for emergencies that affect the entire community.

"One of the key areas that always comes up is tornado watch. Our EMO team, we are doing a number of meetings and in that defining disaster possibilities and then with each one would be the component of whether the use of this siren would have to happen."

Fallis says they sent out notices to St. Pierre residents to inform them of the test so they would not be alarmed. He notes the Emergency team in St. Pierre will now have to look at how to best use this tool.

"It can be set off with a cell phone so we have to determine the protocols of who will be able to do that and what sort of sign off so that is all part of the meetings we will be having in the next month or two. There are a few steps before that thing can fire up."

Fallis notes this Tuesday is an ideal day to hold the test because the Village will be holding an open house at 7:00 at the recreation hall to showcase their emergency place and get feedback.
