After complaints to the La Broquerie municipality, the shipping container by-law has been amended.

Reeve Lewis Weiss says shipping containers were previously not allowed on properties in the Village of La Broquerie or in the rural residential areas.

"But, unfortunately, there are shipping containers in those locations so now it has to be dealt with. Now we're amending our rules that we will allow them a conditional use [permit]."

Weiss says council decided those living in the Village of La Broquerie or in the rural residential areas would need to apply for a conditional use permit, the neighbours would be informed and the applicant would need to pay a $200/year fee to keep the shipping container on their property.

He adds, hopefully, this will reduce complaints.
