Questions have come to La Broquerie council regarding the shipping container by-law, which was amended mid-September.

Reeve Lewis Weiss says one of the questions was in regards to the charge applied to a shipping container on a rural residential lot and council explained the charge was applied to discourage future shipping containers from being placed on properties.

"There have been a few hearings," notes Weiss. "A lot of people have already sold or removed their containers. Some people are keeping them because they're selling in a year or two and then they're going to need it to move. There's a variety of reasons and situations."

A shipping container on a rural residential property was approved Wednesday evening by council.

Weiss says if a container were to be removed from the property the owner should inform the RM office and they would only be charged for the portion of the year where the container was on the property.
