Steinbach fire crews extricated a patient out of a vehicle following a collision at the intersection of Main and Friesen in Steinbach just after four o'clock this (Friday) afternoon.

Officials at the scene say a small car was turning left onto Main Street from Friesen Avenue when it was T-boned by a larger car going east on Main Street. Assistant Fire Chief Mike Penner says one of the vehicles allegedly ran a red light but it is unknown at this time which vehicle.

The driver and lone occupant of the smaller car was transported to the hospital with minor injuries.

Traffic on Main was down to one lane in both directions until about 5pm while crews cleared the scene.

Meanwhile, as the scene was being taken care of, another vehicle heading east on Main Street was stopped at the intersection at a red light when another car came up and rear-ended it. All of this happened right in front of the police officer who was standing on the sidewalk. The drivers of both vehicles pulled over onto Friesen and exchanged information.
