Niverville Town Council has appointed a building committee for the proposed Community Resource Centre.

Formerly known as the Niverville Multi-Plex, the proposed Community Resource Centre is set to house a new arena and multi-use indoor courts as well as facilities for the second phase of the new high school including a drama room, band room, and child care facilities.

Mayor Myron Dyck says they want to be ready if the provincial and federal governments announce funding.

"At the time that our application is accepted and we know that we have money coming forward obviously, we need things in place. We have also sent out an RFP (request for proposal) for the conceptual design and if there are questions from those builders or developers that would be involved in this project, we have this committee to be able to steer that going forward."

Dyck says there is a lot of work that goes into a facility like this before shovels hit the ground.

“Right now we have four members, two members of council and two staff members being our business manager and our public works manager.”
