What some may consider a "flash flood" has already overwhelmed the drainage system on certain city streets in Steinbach.

Strong winds and aggressive rainfall have caused pooling in many parking lots and certain routes, like Brandt Street, are already nearly a foot underwater.

Environment Canada, meanwhile, has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for the Steinbach region as well as for the RMs of La Broquerie, Ste. Anne, Stuartburn, and Taché.

Thunderstorms such as these are capable of producing wind gusts of up to 100 kilometers per hour, rainfall amounts of up to 75 millimeters per hour, and up to nickel-sized hail.
