Motorists may experience short delays at Highway 12 and the Trans-Canada Highway as construction crews do work on the interchange.

Larry Halayko is the Executive Director of Construction and Maintenance with Manitoba Infrastructure. He notes crews are hauling and placing material along interchange to stabilize the grade slope.

The Highway 12 and Trans-Canada interchange"Anyone who has driven through the area in the last few years has noticed that some of the slopes are slipping away and that tends to happen with higher moisture and steeper grade slopes so crews are underway doing that work."

Halayko says crews will need to remove sections of the light standards on the eastern side so they can do their work more efficiently. He notes motorists may also have some short delays.

"There should be a little bit of an impact but not a major impact. When we are doing work in the area and there is signage we need the drivers to obey it and reduce their speeds accordingly and allow themselves a little bit more time when they are driving through the area."

Halayko says the project is scheduled to be completed in mid-November.
