The Town of Niverville has awarded tenders for the construction of the shared parking lot at the new Niverville High School and Community Resource Centre.

Mayor Myron Dyck says the three contracts were awarded to companies from here in southeastern Manitoba.

"For the parking lot that was awarded to Fast Brothers, I believe they are based out of Blumenort and I believe we had a total of nine tenders on that. We then have awarded the electrical to Trotco Electric, that is a local company and then the financing went to our local credit union, we did have two tenders on that one being a chartered bank and the other being our local credit union."

Dyck says the parking lot contract was awarded for just over $1.2M and the contract for lighting was awarded for around $51K. He notes the construction costs will be split with the Hanover School Division and the Town of Niverville’s portion will cost approximately $670K.

Meanwhile, Dyck says construction has already begun on parts of the Community Resource Centre.

"For the performing arts and childcare spaces piles have already gone in so ground is already broken on that. As far as the field house and arena portion, I believe we are still a month away until that construction company will have final drawings and be ready to go but there is equipment and trucks and people and things are happening."
