The Independent Investigation Unit of Manitoba is conducting an investigation following an injury to a woman during an arrest made by a member of the Beausejour RCMP.

According to RCMP, the woman was arrested under the Intoxicated Persons Act on the morning of April 30, 2017. During the course of the arrest, the woman sustained a fracture to her upper right arm and was taken to the hospital where staff confirmed the injury.

A broken arm is defined as a serious injury under IIU regulations, the unit was notified of the incident, and is now investigating the circumstances of the woman’s arrest.

The IIU investigates all serious incidents involving police officers in Manitoba, whether occurring on or off duty.
