It was a very routine changeover for businesses in Steinbach.
When the calendar flipped over to 2008, it brought with it a reduction in Canada's G.S.T. rate.  We spoke with some business owners in Steinbach to find out what sort of grief this may have caused on computer systems.  Earl Unger at Pic'n'Pay Shoes says the whole process took only a few minutes.  He welcomes the reduction and says it shows our prime minister is staying true to his election promise.  Bryan Bartel at MJ's says many of his customers have already noticed the change, especially those now paying less for the same dish they order on a regular basis.  Franz Abrams is General Manager at Canadian Tire in Steinbach.  He feels there's a very good chance the reduction will translate into more sales in some of the bigger ticket items in the coming months.
