Outdoor rink next to T.G.Smith Arena

The Steinbach Winter Carnival will take place Saturday at a new location. The event has been held at A.D. Penner Park in recent years. But Jason Peters of Parks and Recreation says it has been moved to the outdoor skating rink next to the T.G. Smith Arena. He adds, "We've actually had to alter some of our activities due to the lack of snow but we're really looking forward to it. It's going to be at the Community Garden area beside the arena. We've got a huge skating rink built there. If you haven't had a chance to check it out, you need to. It's quite a bit bigger than the one we used to have over at the Jake Epp Library. It's in and amongst the trees and there's bales so you can sit down and rest."

Peters says all activities at the carnival are free of charge.  He notes, "In terms of concessions, we do have the arena canteen right next door so the hot chocolate and coffee is available right there. We've also got access to washrooms, change rooms and those sort of things. There will also be an indoor public skate from 4 to 7."
