The defending champion Grunthal Red Wings and the Red River Mudbugs were winners in the Hanover-Tache Junior Hockey League on Thursday night.

Zack Bezditny scored twice and Quinton Wiebe stopped 22 shots as Grunthal shutdown the Clippers 4-0 in Niverville. Darren Humphreys and Brody Kornelson also scored for the Red Wings (12-3-1-2) who moved within one point of the third place Beausejour Shock. Niverville goaltender Michael Peristerakis faced 41 shots. The Clippers (2-17-2) losing streak has reached 11 games.

Shane Damphousse had a pair of goals as Red River shaded the Mohawks 3-2 in Mitchell. Daniel Beninger also scored for the Mudbugs (13-7) who stayed one point back of fourth place Grunthal. Tim Thiessen had both goals for the Mohawks (4-15) who saw their two-game winning streak come to an end.
