The man who confessed to torching the windmill at Mennonite Heritage Village in Steinbach 11 years ago has been sentenced to two years less a day, to be served in the community.

30 year-old Kynan Patram of Mitchell will also be on probation for one year after completing the sentence.

Judge Tim Preston handed down the sentence last Thursday.

He acknowledged that Patram had accepted responsibility for his actions and the community can now move past this horrible event.

Charges were dropped against co-accused David Wiebe back in May.
