Springfield 98's: 14-3-0  28 points - 1st place

Not much has changed in the land of the 98's. They are a week older, they are a week wiser and they are coming off a week of rest and relaxation, having not seen game action since January 19th. They will look to build on their 11 game winning streak. It's always interesting to see how teams come out after a long lay-off and Springfield will be in for a test from a desperate Grunthal squad.

Steinbach is happy with the 2 points but not their total effort, allowing the Habs back in the game giving up 2 goals in the third. They held on for the win and 2 much needed points as their fate remains in their own hands coming to the end of the season.

Red River Wild: 10-7-0  20 points - 3th place

The Wild make the jump into third place after beating Grunthal 4-1 on Saturday. They get the tie breaker as of now because they have played on less game then the Red Wings. Strong play going back to mid-December has the Wild in good position to make a serious run at the 2nd place Huskies; especially given 2 of their final 3 games are against Steinbach.

Grunthal Red Wings: 10-8-0  20 points - 4rd place

The Red Wings saw their 4 game winning streak come to an end at the hands of Red River. They also got jumped in the standings by the Wild. With only two games left in the regular season, Grunthal faces top rated Springfield twice. The Red Wings need a big effort to close out the season with the Aces looking to drop them down the standings further.

Next games - Wednesday Jan. 28th 7:45pm @ Springfield - Thursday Feb. 5th 8:00pm vs. Springfield

Ste.Anne Aces: 9-8-1  19 points - 5th place

The Aces are on a mini roll after two straight victories, putting them within striking distance of the Red Wings. It's been an up and down season for Ste. Anne and they continue to look for consistency. 9 goals against St. Malo will go a long way to building confidence but 7 goals against will put the focus more on defence as the thought of starting playoffs at home creeps into their minds.

Next games - Monday Feb. 2nd 7:45pm vs Springfield - Wednesday Feb. 4th 8:00pm vs St. Malo

La Broquerie Habs: 5-11-1-1  12 points - 6th place

The Habs fell short in a hard fought battle at Hockey Day in La Broquerie but Rejean Carriere added two points, increasing his league leading point total to 41 in only 18 games. They will be in 6th place to finish the season, regardless of the results in the next two games. The Habs will look to gain momentum heading into playoffs, they have skill to knock off any team they will meet in the post-season.

Next games - Saturday Jan 31st 7:00 vs St. Malo - Wednesday Feb. 4th 8:00pm vs Steinbach

St. Malo Warriors: 1-14-2  4 points - 7th place

Close but no cigar for the Warriors as they fell to the Aces in a real high scoring affair. 7 goals was a new season high for goals scored in a game and it is something to build on. The Warriors will be the real underdogs heading into playoffs and will have their work cut out for them as whomever finishes 2nd in the league will give the Warriors a lot to handle.
