Highway 52 was shut down for just under an hour Tuesday afternoon as the La Broquerie Fire Department fought a vehicle fire.

Fire Chief Al Nadeau says the fire was near Boreland Road and they were called out around 1:30 PM.

“We just shut the highway down because there was a lot of smoke crossing the highway and then we put out the vehicle, called a tow truck and now we are back in the hall.”

Nadeau says nobody was injured. He notes the occupants of the vehicle smelled smoke, pulled over to the side of the road, and got out to call emergency service.

All in all, Nadeau says his crew was on the scene for just under an hour. The highway has since been reopened.
